Phelps Dodge Chicago Rod
Chicago, Illinois
Overview
Phelps Dodge Chicago Rod is the world’s second largest producer of copper and the world’s largest publicly
traded copper producer. Phelps Dodge is a world leader in the production of molybdenum, the largest producer of molybdenum-based chemicals and continuous-cast copper rod, and among the leading producers of magnet wire and carbon black. Phelps Dodge is an industry leader in the safe, efficient and environmentally responsible production of high-quality metals and minerals.
The Chicago Rod plant suffered from years of abuse and the effects of a high Production environment. The dirty ceiling and walls contributed to low level lighting and hazardous conditions for Phelps employees.

“Two J's presented accurate specifications and creative solutions to the project’s substantial challenge, and at the same time offered very competitive pricing that beat out several local contractors. Considering the large scope and complexity of the work I was extremely pleased that the project went as smoothly as it did.”
Tim Ruppert, Manufacturing Manager, Phelps Dodge Chicago Rod
“Years of high production and neglect made our plant look like a dungeon. Removing all the accumulated carbon dust, dirt and failing paint was no small feat. Our plant looks great now.”
Dave Rodgers, Plant Manager, Phelps Dodge Chicago Rod
